Review For 2019's Photorealistic Version / Remake Of 1994's Movie The Lion King.

Updated: Oct 31, 2019

Disneythe

Okay so following Disney's tremendous work in making photorealistic remakes of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty, and the Beast and 1992's Alladin. We have a brand-new remake/photorealistic version of 1994's animated film The Lion King released on 19 July 2019. Original 1994's version of The Lion King was an American animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 32nd Disney animated feature film, and the fifth animated film produced during a period known as the Disney Renaissance. The Lion King was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, and has a screenplay credited to Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. The Lion King 2019 is an American photorealistic computer-animated musical film directed and produced by Jon Favreau, director of 2016's movie The Jungle Book too, written by Jeff Nathanson, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a remake of Disney's traditionally animated 1994 film of the same name. The film stars the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, as well as James Earl Jones reprising his role for "Mufasa" from the original film.

Well, as after watching its trailers I was eagerly waiting for this movie to release and plans were set to watch it on 20-21st July with my crush. But as crushes never leave a single chance of crushing your feelings and hopes... Yeah she denied 😭

Butttt !!

As crush's sitam (oppressions) are temporary and The Lion King's love is permanent.

I finally decided to watch it yesterday ... Alone 😎

Yeahhh!! With all being said let's jump into the film review now...

I will share my experience as it was throughout the movie from start to end. And I will try to keep it as spoiler-free as I can.

At the start, we see nostalgic typical Lion King opening with its opening music, A camera pan to pride rock with all kinds of animals of pride lands, it's beautiful morning and presentation of Simba (The Future King)... with soundtrack Circle of life. It was nostalgic yet whole new quality and verism to visual effects.

Later, there was a moment where I was almost done with the movie was cursing and planning to leave the cinema. As a lot of best scenes from 1994's original version were missing or were shortened and disturbing plot holes. But anyhow I kept watching.

And then realized that all those scenes were taken out to make this story more realistic. As in the original movie, there were some scenes that made no sense and left viewers with a lot of questions in their heads. But as all characters are realistic now we are losing all those facial expressions that showed us the depth of different scenes but then powerful cinematography by Caleb Deschanel and excellent editing work by Mark Livolsi made it even more emotionally touchy and beautiful.

That I literally kinda screamed during a scene from King Mufasa's Death. And one should agree that Mufasa's death was even more painful than it was in the original 1994's movie. Heart-wrenching emptiness of gorge after the stampede. Shushhhh no Spoilers... Well in the new 2019 version we can see a lot of changings in the story plot that I think was the best decision as it makes much more sense now. Like changing the plot of hyena's interference made their characters a lot scarier than they were in 1994's original movie. And lets not forget hilarious humour by Timon & Pumba. Especially when they were being chased by Nala. The one thing I hate about this movie is how they changed Rafiki's character. His signature plot is all gone. I mean its good that he is also realistic but man everyone loved that old Rafiki. Action Sequences and fights were top class, characters were beautiful. I loved all of the songs.

Overall first I was disappointed and then I was the one shouting and hooting throughout the movie.

I really loooooved this movie, it's visual effects, Cinematography and Vocal Performances.

For me everything was remarkable. So many great things masked little gaps...

Highly recommended movie go watch with your kids and family...

And if you have watched it already do share your reviews about the movie and if you agree/disagree with my review tell me that too in the comment section below.
